How rare is this? It seems confusing lol.

I know it has something to do with genetics but I'm just wondering how rare this is. i'm not racist or anything. Anyways, i have a really nice guy friend who's half black and half white (race-wise). One of his parents are black and the other is white. However, he isn't any shade of brown or black. His skin is pale white like one of his parents. I'm just wondering if this is rare or how rare?

I would not say that it is rare, maybe uncommon, but certainly possible. Skin color is determined by many genes, and maybe the darker parent was a carrier of lighter skin color genes, that your friend inherited.

Here is a story about fraternal twins, a brother and sister, born to a white mother and black father. They were born with very different skin colors and eye colors. It just shows how complex the genetics of skin color and eye color are!
