I got a worksheet in my Biology class and I was wondering if someone could please check my work. He gave a hint saying there would only be 10 amino acids, and I have 9. I'm not sure what I did, but any help would be grateful!
Using the codon usage chart, transcribe this short sequence of a gene and then translate the polypeptide encoded. (Remember to transcribe and then translate in the proper direction) Hint: your polypeptide will be 10 amino acids long
DNA 5'- TAT GTC TCA TAA TGG TGT TAT TGC GAC GTA CIT ATA CAT -3'
This is my work below:
DNA 5'- TAT GTC TCA TAA TGG TGT TAT TGC GAC GTA CTT ATA CAT -3'
ATA CAG AGT ATT ACC ACA ATA ACG CTG CAT GAA TAT GTA
RNA 3'- AUA CAG AGU AUU ACC ACA AUA ACG CUG CAU GAA UAU GUA -5'
Ile Gln Ser Ile Thr Thr Ile Thr Leu His Glu Tyr Val
Please let me know if this is right. If not explain why. Thanks a lot!

Your answer is incorrect. When the mRNA is translated it is read from 5' to 3' direction. So you have to reverse the mRNA. That would make the first codon AUG, which is methionine and also the start codon. Your mRNA would be 5' AUG UAU AAG UAC GUC GCA AUA ACA CCA UUA UGA GAC AUA 3'. The protein would then be: 5' Met-Tyr-Lys-Tyr-Val-Ala-Ile-Thr-Pro-Leu 3'. The next codon UGA is a stop codon that would stop translation.
