I'm reading in a biology reference and a school textbook, the reference says "organs come together to form an organ system", while the textbook says "organs come together to form a system"
My question is, does the word "organ" in "organ system" make any difference or saying only a system will be acceptable?
Thanks

There is no right or wrong way of putting it.
If you want to be more precise and accurate, use organ system. However, the term system already means an organ system. They are taken to mean the same thing. That is why you don't have to say 'digestive organ system' or 'excretory organ system'.
However, it is clearer to write 'organ system' if you are referring to organ systems in general. For specific systems like the digestive system, just write 'digestive system'.

its same thing no difference, organ system is for more clearness otherwise you can say system.

it makes it clearer when you say organs come together to form an organ system but organs form is just as good

just saying "system' could be a little vague. If you use "organ system" there is no confusion.
