What does the quote “People are DNA’s way of making more DNA.” – Edward O. Wilson, 1975 mean

I need to write about this quote as well and was wondering how I could base discussion around this quote and its meaning for my final paper exam.

There's obviously breeding which fuses the two peoples' DNA.
But also DNA replication and mutation within the body. Replication can happen millions of times in a few seconds and new sequences of DNA are constantly being produced.
Also think about evolution and how DNA is 'universal' but has changed over time due to natural selection etc...

What came first, the chicken or the egg?
The egg. The chicken is just the egg's method for reproducing itself.

From one perspective, the cell and organism can be looked upon as tools for the replication of DNA. Life does not exist without DNA replication (at least any known life). The concept can be explored in more depth by looking at concepts such as "The Selfish Gene" and alternation of generations.

i guess it means cos we breed and ****, we mix up DNA, therefore making new combinations of it. i'm fairly confident that would be it, but i've never heard the saying before =D

Instead of saying that people make DNA, it says that DNA makes more DNA using people.
