What in the world? quadrants? :S

X(b, –b), Y(–b, –b), and Z(–b, b).......
A square WXYZ has the vertices W(b, b), X(b, –b), Y(–b, –b), and Z(–b, b). Which vertex is in Quadrant II?
A) W
B) X
C) Y
D) Z

-
-b,b lies in second quadrant
For Ist quadrant ,both coordinates are positive
For 2nd quadrant,X co-ordinate is negative
For 3rd quadrant, both coordinates are negative
For 4th quadrant,Y coordinate is negative

-
Quadrant I: (+,+)
Quadrant II: (-,+)
Quadrant III: (-,-)
Quadrant IV: (+,-)

Assuming b is a positive constant, the vertex Z would be in Quadrant II.
If b happened to be a negative constant, however, the vertex X would be in Quadrant II.

I assume Z is the correct answer though.

Your x and y axis divide the number plane into 4 quadrants. They're counted anticlockwise, starting from the top right one. So:

2 | 1
3 | 4

The vertex in the second quadrant will have a negative x value and a positive y value, so the answer is D) Z
