And Ive slept walked before but the only dream I had was seeing the uncouncious reality and physical things around me. And I do believe most dreams are causes of deja-vu which is really just thinking so hard about what needs or must be done, and being able to know how the people around you will react. Dreams? Government consiperies? My dear lad wed have all had to have chips in our brai-.......
is it a state of mind or is the brain role-playing while your asleep?
can you phsically be asleep while having a dream?
are sleep walkers having dreams while sleepwalking?
can certian dreams create a sense of deja-vu?
are dreams government consiperies?
hmm... :/

I'd say the brain role-playing while you sleep. Your brain likes to act out your worst fears to your own happily ever after. I figure most people have dreams while they are physically asleep. Than again there are day dreams(like myself). Which is a tad harder to explain. And I've slept walked before but the only "dream" I had was seeing the uncouncious reality and physical things around me. And I do believe most dreams are causes of deja-vu which is really just thinking so hard about what needs or must be done, and being able to know how the people around you will react. Dreams? Government consiperies? My dear lad we'd have all had to have chips in our brai-...the government says no it is not silly.

Well, I think if we understand the purpose of sleep, it will illuminate what a dream is. I think sleep is the minds way of catching up with the processes for things you have done during the day. This idea is much more apparent in younger children, probably because as children everything is new, but as we get older, we don't need to process as much information as we have a solid knowledge base, and thus less processing is needed.
If I am right, then dreaming would probably be a by-product of this, which is why dreams tend to relate to events from the previous days, or things weighing heavily on our minds. Or its something that the mind does to keep the visual cortex occupied, and is influenced by the processes going on while your sleeping.

There are several events that happen when you fall asleep. One of those events is the body shuts off the motor controls, in other words, your brain paralyzes you. This is performed by a chemical signal. If that chemical signal is weak, or non-existant, then a person will sleepwalk. Yes, they are basically acting out their dreams.
