If aliens were real, what do you think the galaxy's government would be like? Individual planets and the galaxy as a whole.?

answers:
ob1knob say: Genghis Khan Empire collapsed because of wars over succession of course but before that, because the Empire became so vast, it took information months to reach the fringes of the Empire and back:
_ General, Mongol rebels are attacking us! what should we do?
...
One year later or more:
_ Fight back!
In a Galactic government, it would take up to 100,000 years just to vote online for your new administration... after 100,000 years to receive the candidate programs, and another 100,000 years to get the results...
On the other hand, a Solar System nation would be manageable. Still with the online vote example, it would take:
- 1/1000 s from ISS station (although astronauts register up to 1 year before for absentee ballot)
- 1 s from a Moon station
- 20 min from Mars
- 50 min from Jupiter moons
- 6 h 45 min from Pluto
Nothing insurmountable.

az_lender say: Individual planets, or at least, individual solar systems.
We have no evidence that aliens aren't "real," but the contact between thinking beings from different star systems would be rare indeed.

Acetek say: Representative.

Jesse say: It would be globalized ( galaxized ) like they’re trying to do now. There can’t be planetism, especially for the lighter skinned aliens. That would be racist.
-
pucman1961 say: I believe aliens to be real. But unfortunately the distances between other solar systems is too great that galaxy giverment would ever work.
It takes light 2 years just to reach the closet star.

David say: It could be a Universal Government
-
Willow say: individual planets
