Stephen say: The most likely 900 year olds would be trees - some of them live for a surprisingly long time.

Gary B say: wrong.
The idea that the sun came back to the same spot after 365 days (one year) has been know for possibly THOUSANDS of years.
The Ancient Egyptians knew it, the Mound Builders in the Midwest United States knew it, the builders of Stonehenge knew it.
ALL of these peoples built monoliths and mounds and pyramids to "celebrate the appearance" of the sun on certain days of the year.

Hogar say: Probably not. Sumerians understood astronomical events including some we only recently discovered. The more we learn the more of the Sumerian texts appear to be factual. And, there are discoveries of many ancient artifacts that required advanced technology to make. Others before us seem to have traveled the same road that we are on.

hardy say: No. they knew the astronomical data thousands of years before the religious text were written. The ancestors ages were often exaggerated to make the "history" sound more ancient than it was . Memory and records did not go back more than say 1000 years so they used stories of the ancestors they knew about but were smart enough to realise that the earth was much older than 1000 years . In the same way religious texts shorten the time to the end of the world to perhaps a few thousand years yet we beleive scientifically that the world is billions of years old and will last for billions of years more.

Adam say: There were never any 900 year olds.
