I know that gravity is a theory, i'm not stupid, but say it exists: why doesn't the moon just fall towards us?

Be glad it does not fall toward us.There aint no ocean big enough to hold it, or land mass large enough for it to land on so it will roll over the mountains, cities, towns,continents,......
say: Gravity is a fact...a fact we cannot explain the "why it works on everything"
Magic keeps it up there.
Be glad it does not fall toward us. There ain't no ocean big enough to hold it, or land mass large enough for it to land on so it will roll over the mountains, cities, towns, continents, over and over again and it will be the end of civilization. There will be no survivors.

no sea nabo say: The Moon is falling towards us all the time. The Earth is falling to the sun all the time. And the galaxy is falling into the black hole (galaxy center) all the time

Phoque Queue say: All in all, a successful troll. I see in the answers a point that should be addressed. A lot of people don't understand the idea of a scientific theory, or how something can be both a theory and a fact.

Many things are facts, observable phenomena, but we don't quite thoroughly understand how or why they work. In those cases, there is the scientific law of it happening. That is the what. Then there is (are) one or more theories to explain the why and the how. Gravity is an excellent example of this. Other good examples are climate change, evolution, and fire.

Satan Claws say: One thing I've come to realize from people asking questions on this forum is that many people seem to think that gravity only exists here on Earth and that "everything floats in space". I suppose those ideas come from the videos of astronauts floating next to a space station or space ship or how distance are so huge that fast moving things seem to be standing still; which gives people the impression that there is no gravity above a certain altitude from the ground. (I never got to ask those people at what height does gravity "stop", or the reason why gravity "turns off" above a certain altitude and whether it happens suddenly or gradually.) Those ideas would come naturally to greek philosophers such as Aristotle, who considered that "the heavens" are pristine and unchanging and subject to different behaviors/laws to what is seen here on Earth. (I imagine that would also contribute to the popular idea today that the Earth is flat, as if Earth is a special different place from the rest of the Universe.)
