The Moon does fall towards us, and we fall towards the Moon. however, as we fall towards each other, there is a slight sideways movement for both bodies, that prevents these two from directly colliding with each other.

The moon doesn't fall toward us because it has inertia. This inertia is directed sideways, and the combination of the sideways inertia force and the downward gravity force add up to a approximately circular orbit around the Earth.
