but still more work needs to be done.-poldi say: There are a lot more exoplanets that are a lot closer. answers:
Gary B say: No.

It would take several thousands of years to get to them.
-
Brigalow Bloke say: By the time a probe got there NASA and the USA will no longer exist.
-
Newdivide1701 say: As soon as a drive can reach those planets within a reasonable amount of time, then yes.

Is there a drive? Yes, it's warp drive BUT that drive system is still on the drawing board. The physics is sound, but still more work needs to be done.

TRAPPIST-1 is 39 light years away, there are others as close as 4 light years (around Proxima Centauri).
They have found over 3500 exoplanets so far.

Tom S say: Maybe someday when we have technology to do that. Not anytime soon.
-
tham153 say: Not likely in this century given the distance of 39 lightyears
-
poornakumar b say: They will reach there (if they don't miss their bearings & the way as there are no PATHS in Space) after a hundred thousand years, may be.
-
Roger K say: No. It would take millions of years to get there.
-
Alex say: It's 40 light years away. That means that if we could get a probe going that fast...it'd take 40 years for them to get there and once it got there and started sending information back it'd take another 40 years for the information to make it back.

That's even if we could send something out there with a radio that powerful that we could pick it up.

But since the best we can do is 0.00005103530656532 of light speed...it's going to take a heck of a while longer to get there.

Those planets are 378,195,840,000,000 kilometers away. Best speed we can do is 15.73 kilometers per second. That's 24,042,965,034,965 seconds to get there.
