quantumclaustrophobe say: It's a series of 'selfies'. The camera arm is 'removed' from the pictures depending on the angle, then the photos are put together so it looks like there wasn't a selfie...

Roger K say: How can you be so puzzled by this?
Ever heard of a remote operated camera. The cameras are on extendable booms. The camera boom extends out, rotates the camera back toward the rover and - say cheese - snaps the photo.
Either that, or they secretly sent a person to accompany it and take those pictures.

Gigapie say: It takes pictures of itself. It has extensible arms, etc., that can hold cameras. Also, there are a number of satellites in orbit around Mars that can take pictures from above.

BRIAN say: It's all a bluff.
Watch the movie Capricorn one.

Quadrillian say: It has a selfie stick built in. Look closely at the photos and you can see it.
Some photos have the selfie stick airbrushed out. That seems somewhat dishonest to me, but hey we are talking about nasa here.
Cheers!

KennyB say: Well, 'they' sent up cameras with the lander. If you look close you can see the 'selfie stick' the camera is mounted upon.

Dwayne say: It has a selfie stick I think
