Sadly, ''the fools'' you are concerned about - will not have such - and thus would not be capable of understanding why they are wrong.
However, if ''the fools'' are attempting to convince others (such as a board of education, or publishers or children or others that have not yet thrown their brains away), *then* it is your right, perhaps even your duty to use education - to educate yourself to the resources available on-line that can easily describe how the ages of such things have been determined (and continue to be evaluated) - and to attempt to educate those that might be misled by ''the fools''.

Look, don't be a bone head. Has it not occurred to you to visit a library, look in the Earth History /Geology section and READ VARIOUS BOOKS on the subject? No use you getting answers here. You will get 20 answers and NONE will be correct, so you go away more confused, pick a best answer and life a sophistic existence. Sophistic of sophistry mean just because someone tells you its true does not mean it is true, got that?

OK so I hope your not a creastionist because those numbers are facts not something that came from a 2000 year old book written when everyone thought the world was flat.
Scientists say that the Earth is 4.6 billion years old while the universe is somewhere from 10 to 20 billion years old. Is it true that in the '60s scientists spotted background radiation that they thought to be remnants of the Big Bang? If this is the evidence that we base the Big Bang theory on, can the universe be older than 10 to 20 billion years, even though we have not seen any evidence of it? Also, why exactly are we sure that the Earth is 4.6 billion years old? Is the quantity 10 to 20 billion years commonly accepted today because of evidence only?
