It's hard to explain, but when you go on holiday you take a plane. Normally by Virgin Media or British Airways or something. Do you think that later in the future, we will have a 'normal holiday plane' flying at the edge of space? Something like this: http://www.virgingalactic.com/research/

Sorry if it sounds a little stupid, just curious :P

There are already private spaces sold for rockets, so this would likely be a next step. Of course, since the purpose is fundraising, it is unlikely that the average person could go.

-
Distant space travel will likely happen sometime in the future, however, simply traveling for holidays will not likely happen in the near future, it is similar to the exploration of the new world in the early 1300s. It has taken nearly six centuries for humans to make commercial travel from the old world to the new world possible, so it will likely take even longer to commercialize space.

Even if such a suborbital passenger plane were to become real, it will be something like an exaggerated Concorde--very expensive, and limited to the moneyed few. It would be used mainly for high-level business travel, and by the very rich, for whom reducing the travel time to perhaps 1/10th of what it is currently to fly from, say, London to Tokyo, is worth the extravagant expense.
.
For most of us, we will be willing as we are now to exchange travel time for economy. I might be willing to spend (and able to afford) $1000 to cross the Pacific from Los Angeles, but $10,000 or $20,000 is out of the question. So, when you say a 'normal holiday plane', no, I don't think so, not for the vast majority of us, anyway. The 1% live in their own world.

Yeah, it's possible. The idea has been around for quite some time, and a fair amount of the basic engineering work has already been done. However, there are problems with funding and technology that have prevented such vehicles from being built so far.

-
There has been talk of that sort of plane, which would be a lot faster than the current long-haul flights.
If it looks profitable, and someone has enough spare cash to invest in developing it, it will happen.

-
Possible? sure, probable? No. It requires more energy, increases environmental pollution, and increases adverse health effects.

-
I do - its just a matter of costs at the moment but no reason why not in the future

-
maybe
