If the Earth completely stopped rotating its mass would remain exactly the same, and nothing at all would fly off of it. People may be confusing gravity with centrifugal force. If centrifugal force was at play wed fly off BECAUSE of rotation, not without it.-Well,......
People obviously have no idea what gravity is. Gravity is a result of mass. It has absolutely nothing at all to do with rotation. If the Earth completely stopped rotating its mass would remain exactly the same, and nothing at all would "fly off" of it. People may be confusing gravity with centrifugal force. If centrifugal force was at play we'd "fly off" BECAUSE of rotation, not without it.
Well, because momentum is all about mass and velocity (speed of motion), the Earth will eventually decrease its momentum and there might be two results.
1. It gets pulled by the sun's gravitational force
2. Gravity decrease and we all would fly off to space, like 'The' said above.
A force sufficient to do that would destroy the Earth. Earth's surface is a thin crust (no pun intended) surrounding molten magma.
You have invoked a magical event. Once magic is invoked prediction becomes impossible.
It would be completely shattered.
We'll all fly off.
