The economic virtues of any exploration have always been questioned. When they first set sail for the new World, the humbugs in the castle's suggested that it was a crazy impossible mission. When Marco Polo went to the orient they thought he was mad, and many thought he had never visited. When Cesar traveled to Britain many tried to have him declared insane. When Alexander pushed past Persia all the way to India, no one believed any of that had any value. Exploration itself creates value through discovery. Much of our modern aeronautics comes from what we learned by sending three men in a bathtub to the moon. Firefighting technology, radios, even the internet benefited from the great space race. Your cell phone technology that you use today came directly from NASA mission control. We don't actually know what benefits more exploration can bring, but it is telling in the whole of human history, expeditions to unknown countries have never been failures, even though economically they may not have made a lot of money right away. Columbus for instance nearly bankrupt the king and queen when he was sent to the new world. yet through that exploration, Spain controlled 1/4 of all wealth in the world at one time.

Understanding another planet even the moon can provide a lot of information and greater understanding for our own planet. It can help us with meteorology, physics, chemistry even biology. That people don't understand the great loss we have suffered because of the loss of the shuttle program is beyond me. Here is a simple list of some of the devices that you use today that came from space. http://articles.cnn.com/2007-10-04/livin… Who knows what tomorrows space exploration will bring? All we know it will bring something and that is the point of space exploration.

All of WHAT money? I hope you realize NASA's annual funding is less than ONE percent of the national budget. Social programs get over thirty percent. If American social programs are currently getting over thirty times what NASA gets and we still have poor Americans, how exactly could NASA's budget save the poor people in the world five times over?

Also, check out spinoff.nasa.gov and see just what gadgets you presently enjoy that came from NASA. Over the decades, the amount of technology they have brought to the public is unbelievable. They share EVERYTHING.

I hope you're aware that the "rocks" we've collected from the moon have a great deal of Helium 3 in them, which is quite valued at the moment considering it's becoming rather rare on earth. What's it good for? Oh, I dunno. Fusion research, perchance. You know, our holy grail of energy production.

Ignoring all of that, where is your desire for exploration? Don't you want to see man walk on Mars? Sigh.
