In "The Quadratic Trinomial" how would i factor out a -1 to make the first term of the trinomial positive

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-12-03] [Hit: ]
Example: to factor out 2 from 2x² - 6x, you place 2 outside parentheses,......
the question is 15 - n(2) + 2n
(hint: when i put n(2) that means n squared, etc.
And before you start saying I wasnt paying attention in class, well actually its make up work I didnt get finished with -_- and the question i have is the example problem lol.

You factor it out as any other number - divide each term by -1 when factoring out.

Example: to factor out 2 from 2x² - 6x, you place 2 outside parentheses, then
divide 2x² by 2 (x²) and -6x by 2 (-3x):
2x² - 6x = 2 (2x²/2 -6x/2) = 2 (x² - 3x)

15 - n² + 2n
= -n² + 2n + 15
= -(n² - 2n - 15)
= -(n - 5) (n + 3)

15 - n(2) + 2n

- n^2 + 2n + 15 = 0

n^2 - 2n - 15 = 0

-
15 - n^2 +2n

- n^2 + 2n + 15

(-n + 5)(n + 3)
