Does the moon have diamonds on it

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-12-03] [Hit: ]
finding more wont make diamonds worthless. they have many practical applications, as do gold & silver. collecting them to wear or look at is pointless, but they have genuine uses, such as drilling,......
1) Does the moon have diamonds on it, and do we know?

2) What known minerals are abundant on the moon?

3) If in the future diamonds are scarce and we find a planet that we can live on and it is extremely abundant in diamonds will the value of diamonds drop extremely and the value be worthless?

1. definitely not ON it, but theoretically it could possibly have diamond IN it.

2. detailed info about that is on google/wiki

3. finding more won't make diamonds worthless. they have many practical applications, as do gold & silver. collecting them to wear or look at is pointless, but they have genuine uses, such as drilling, etc.

A few meteorite types have small basically worthless diamonds. Since the Moon is hit by meteorites it must have some diamonds. It is unknown whether the Moon has created its own diamonds. As for finding them on other planets, this has been dealt with in a few SF stories, at least since early Robert Heinlein, but such speculation is premature.
The Moon's most common minerals are anorthosite, basalt, and KREEP, which is found only on the Moon.
