Does space expand faster than the speed of light

Astronomers think that at almost the first instant of the Big Bang, when our universe was created, an event known as "inflation" occurred. At this time, the space of the universe expanded faster than the speed of light for a few moments. Any thing now in that region of "inflated" space will never be detected by us since it's moving away from us faster than the speed of light.

BTW --- It's okay with Einstein that *space* can move faster than light. It's only matter that's not allowed to move *through* space faster than light.

The expansion of space is a rate, not a velocity. That's like a dimension of difference. We don't measure speed in kilometers. We don't measure speed in hours. We measure speed in km/h. The question is like asking if 35km/h is longer than five hours.

The expansion rate is not measured by kilometers per second. It is measured by kilopeters per second per MegaParsec. This is a rate, not a velocity.

At a certain distance, the an object will appear to recede at light speed, and beyond that, it will appear to recede at beyond light speed. Closer, and it appears to recede at less than light speed.

Once the universe becomes so large, the expansion of space over such large distances light from these places never arrives, this is the increase in distance overcomes the speed of light

As far as we can tell, space itself is not a physical body, therefore it COULD expand MUCH faster than the speed of light!

The closer to a gravity pull the slower now time is. Physics rules. Disprove it and you will win accolades.
