Since its so big shouldnt it become a supernova in a couple years?

Yes.
Of course, you have to realize that, for an astrophysicist, "soon" means "some time in the next 10,000 years"!

There is a difference between size (volume, diameter), mass (how much matter is in it), temperature (what color it is), and what fuel it is using (hydrogen or something more complex).
That star fails to qualify on several categories to go supernova anytime soon, if at all.

Relatively soon, yes.
It's one of the largest stars that exists, and will therefore have a correspondingly short lifespan. It won't explode in a *couple* of years, but almost certainly within the next few million.
Addendum: I was off by an order of magnitude or so.
VY Canis Majoris is scheduled to explode within 100,000 years.

It's quite possible - in fact it may have already happened! Because of it's distance from us - 4,900 light years - the information may not have reached us yet.
Betelgeuse, is the most likely candidate for a visual supernova as it has been "pulsing" for many years - a sure sign of instability in a dying star.

Depends - Soon as in human lifetime or soon as in age of the Universe. A 100,000 years seems long to us humans, but it's nothing compared to the age of the Universe.

No one knows. It'd be nice to have a second sun for a couple of weeks, though.
