me and my little brother just caught a really small spider that was jumping around our front gate. it looks a bit brownish or yellowish with some black. i dont really know what kind of spider it is but im assuming its a house spider. i know that spiders always eat other insects but i wanna know if i can feed it anything else. i live in jersey city NJ if that can help identify what the spider might be. and there are little ant hills by my house,maybe its ok for me to feed it some ants?

What you have found is not a house spider, but rather a jumping spider. They will eat small ants if that is what you can provide, but I would not suggest keeping such a spider as a pet as they wont live long, and they can jump a rather impressive distance, so odds are it will make its escape when you open the lid of whatever container you have it in and it will be lost in your house. I suggest talking your mom into buying you a hamster, or if you really are set on a spider, most pet stores have tarantulas.
