Explain to me why a dog is classified as a mammal.

-
By definition, a mamal is an animal that is warm-blooded (more scientifically called endothermic), has hair/fur, gives live birth, and feeds its young with milk.

A dog does/has all of the above characteristics of a mamal. Therefore, a dog is a mammal.

-
1) complex multicellular organism
2) has lungs to breathe air
3) is a vertebrate
4) live birth (does not lay eggs)
5) warm-blooded

A mammal must be:
-warm-blooded
-Have hair or fur
-give birth to live young
-feed young with milk
A dog fits all those categories, and so it is a mammal.

-
Anything that has hair, breathes air, and doesn't give birth to eggs is a mammal!
