First you should look up what kind of spider it is. Black widow, recluse, aggressive house spider (hobo spider) all of these can be dangerous to mess with especially the last two i mentioned.

Your spider chose its environment (your basement) for a reason, it could not be happy being moved to outside and just seek to come back inside. When you research what it is you will have a better idea of 1. whether you move it 2. If it is dangerous to move it.

depending on what type of spider it is depends on the way that you take it out. but i don't know really much but i suggested this site to my friend and she hates spider's but this site helped her out.
