When will they leave the range of transmission?

We will loose contact sometime after 2020, maybe not 'till 2030. This is not because they go out of range, but because the power will run out and they will no longer be able to transmit.

Originally set to power down completely in 2012, conservation of energy might allow data recorders to operate until 2015 now. It is hoped that transmissions from both probes may continue to reach Earth until 2020.
