How does diffraction depend on wavelength

Waves with larger wavelengths will diffract more than those with shorter wavelengths. Imagine you live behind a hill if the sun is behind it then you will be in shadow as the light does not diffract enough around the hill for you to be able to see it. But you could still pickup signal on your radio from a tower that you cannot see as radiowaves have much larger wavelengths and so can diffract around hills and other obstacles.
