Venom and poison are two different things. There are officially only two poisonous snakes, I don't know their names but that's what I know. Poison is when you eat something and become ill. Venom is where your bitten then become ill (or die). It would be my guess that the snakes venom would not kill the snake nor would the snake bite itself in order to do so.
