i have a red ear slider, and its healthy, it eats a lot and it swims around a lot too, it also basks a lot but ive noticed that the shell has white-ish lines and some skin is peeling off, is this part of a turtle growing up? or is it a problem?

You need to add calcium and a small amount of vitamin D to the diet of your turtle. Giving it fish with bone included is a good idea. Vitamin D is needed if the basking lamp does not have ultraviolet light included in its spectrum. Either get an ultraviolet bulb or full spectrum bulb. Incandescent bulb or regular fluorescent bulbs are not good enough.
