u is initial velocity(30m/s),s is distance( 0.......
An arrow strikes of mass 80g strikes a wooden target with a speed of 30m/s and penetrates 1cm.
a) How much kinetic energy is lost by the arrow?
b) What is the average force exerted on the arrow as it stops?

ANSWER FOR A:
(1/2)*m*v^2 = loss in KE
(1/2)*80*30^2 = 36000J

How do I answer question b?

Try F=ma
To find "a" use v2=u2 + 2as where v is final velocity(zero),u is initial velocity(30m/s),s is distance( 0.01m)
Remember to square "u"
