It's pretty simple physics.
In a lab I did, I worked with air gliders colliding. the final kinetic energy of the air gliders was greater than the initial. this doesn't make sense... where did it get the extra energy from?

The potential energy in the initial stage is then all gradually converted to kinetic energy in the end.
