Scampering across a partially melted roof in winter with an enormous mouthful of nuts, a squirrel slips on ice near the eavestroughing and slides helplessly toward the edge of the roof. He could spit out the nuts in the direction facing the edge, (for every action there is an equal yet opposite reaction) and that would cause him to be pushed away from the edge.
