Matter waves are wavelike description of matter. They are matter themselves and are not made of any thing else. Even electromagnetic waves are energy itself they are not made of any thing else. Yes the electric and magnetic field they carry are things with which we are familiar and produce in laboratory. On the other hand the so called displacement in matter wave does not represent any thing tangible but when it is multiplied by its complex conjugate then the product is related with the probability of finding the particle, represented by the matter wave.
