P.S. 2 days at a time, many times a month - i have been researching! (& 8 liters of red-bull equivalent to help !) Yes.......

Many thanks in advance for some light on this darn-troubling matter....

P.S. 2 days at a time, many times a month - i have been researching! (& 8 liters of red-bull equivalent to help !) Yes. I'm a caffeine Nut. And NO, im not cutting down, Its sugar free tho, lol !

Please Help !!!

Power-Specification For My Gear:

Wireless Receiver:
DC 12V 500mA

Wireless Camera:
DC 8V 200mA

Ingredients So Far:
- 20 x AA 3800mAh Batteries
- Solder Tabs for battery Packs
-Small to medium collection of semiconductors + & - output voltages (from -24v to +25v) and from 100mA to 1.5mA amperage...
- Heatshrink (40mm, 50mm, 70mm)
- 5 x Battery Boxes/Cases (with bare wires and built-in switch) {4 x AA per box}

Two Examples of the closest semiconductors i could find to meet my requirements:

1.

2.

Again, many thanks in advance for all help given !

You probably want a 'voltage regulator', for example see link. However I'm no electronics expert so you may want to ask under 'Engineering'.

Note that you need to control the voltage, not the current. Providing you have the correct voltage, the device you are supplying will automatically draw the correct current. But you need to make sure the voltage regulator can cope with whatever the maximum current is.

Note, it is impossible to control both the voltage and current supplied to a device simultaneously, because current = voltage/resistance; the device's resistance depends on its internal circuitry which you can't change. Just make sure the voltage is correct.

So as i understand it, from what ive been reading so far, as long as the voltage output of the battery pack is correct, say 8v and ive used a semiconductor rated to 500mAh, as the device only uses a max of 200mAh, then does this mean that the device will only use what it needs and ignore the rest ?
