If a pendulum had a frictionless pivot and there was no air resistance, would it oscillate forever

the age of our universe is 13.75 Giga years which is 13.so theoretically, logically, practically yes ........
If a pendulum had a frictionless pivot and there was no air resistance, would it oscillate forever? Or would there be damping?

theoretically yes, it will oscillate forever
but lets take the gravitational waves into accnt!

as per Wikipedia, the power radiated is in the order of 10^-84
to dissipate one Joule it would take 10^76 years
the age of our universe is 13.75 Giga years which is 13.75 * 10^9

and forever mayb defined just as long as before we are annhilated by the sun
so theoretically, logically, practically yes ... the pendulum will osscilate forever

but this question is a real interesting one!
Irv S really added some interesting insight into it!

The bob would have to be non-conductive otherwise eddy currents would be induced internally as it moves through the Earth's magnetic field .. these currents create magnetic fields that oppose the motion (by interaction with the Earth's field .. Lenz's law an' all that ..)

Sir Isaac Might think so, but 'Forever' is a long time.
It would lose energy in gravitational waves y'know.
