If going faster than the speed of sound causes a sonic boom...

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-07-19] [Hit: ]
For example in water the speed of light is only 0.High energy subatomic particles may be able to outpace the speed of photons in these materials, without actually traveling faster than light vacuum speed. This produces an effect known as Cherenkov Radiation. For example many radioactive elements produce high-energy electrons when they decay. Cherenkov radiation can be seen a bright blue glow around the rector core of pool-type nuclear reactors.......
would going faster than the speed of light cause a sonic flash?

Sort of.

It's impossible to reach much less exceed the speed of light in a vacuum.

However, in solid materials that are transparent, like water, glass, or air, the effective speed of light propagation may be significantly less than in a vacuum. The reasons for this are complex and beside the point. For example in water the speed of light is only 0.75c

Going faster than speed of light is not possible.

Any way, hypothetically, no, it won't cause a "sonic flash".

Going faster than speed of sound displaces a lot of air, especially at the point where the speed of sound is reached. So, sonic boom is actually created only the point where sound speed is crossed, due to air, which is the medium of air.

Light, on the other hand, does not have a medium. So, nothing is displaced when you, hypothetically, cross the speed the light. So, sorry, but not sonic flash.

We'll never know because surpassing the speed of light is impossible.

Going faster than the speed of light would cause massive problems because that would mean our universe is probably falling apart. And what on Earth does a sound flash mean?

-
its impossible to go the speed of light
