Why is thermodynamics important

I've to explain about it, and I know the laws are important, but why is it important, in general? :D

Do you want to drive a car that has an engine?
Do you want to understand how to build a better fire?
Do you want to understand your utility bill?
Do you want to be able to maintain the temperature of your house?
Do you want to eat?


If you answer yes to any of those questions...that is why thermodynamics is important.
