) or imagining how luck I am to live in this century where I did not lose 5 children in infancy. But my husband think this is odd. But I dont understand why he thinks so, he says its rude to disturb the dead .. but why would I be disturbing?......
Since coming to the US at age 13 and first seeing old burial grounds I've been hooked; in my home country all there are are mounds in the mountains and personal information such as name, etc are kept in the family record books. I like being able to go to a cemetery and read someones name, wonder about their life etc. see odd things like having a name with no death date (did they remarry or?) or imagining how luck I am to live in this century where I did not lose 5 children in infancy.

But my husband think this is odd. But I don't understand why he thinks so, he says it's rude to disturb the dead .. but why would I be disturbing? I'm very respectful in cemeteries (always using marked paths when there are some and not stepping directly in front of a gravestone if there is not).

What do you think?

Cemeteries and places of rest are just as much for the living as they are for those who are interred there.Visiting such places can be a reminder of our humanity, mortality and a reminder of those who came before us as well as the struggles they had endured to bring us to where we are today. Many such cemeteries can be quite serene places and are very well kept and endowed with care but some are not. There can be allot of art displayed in the craftsmanship of the gravestones and crypts or mausoleums. I do think it can be a good thing to visit a cemetery now and then to pay your respects to friends and family or just to walk amongst the gravestones as it can be a good checkpoint and reminder that you are a part of something quite wonderful. Take care.

Graves are very personal things, SO I could see your husbands issue with it, but I can also see your fascination, as long as you are always respectful then it's not an issue but try not to become obsessed with it or offend anyone, some people will get very emotional around family members graves.

Yes, your husband is right that it is odd.
But everyone has to have a hobby, right? As long as your being respectful, I see nothing wrong with it.
