Her mom had noticed something was unusual with her ever since she was a baby, she'd look at random empty spaces and start screaming and crying. She'd been run through a battery of tests and declared fully sane by school psychiatrists.
She saw a student hanging in the hallway of her school, and found out that somebody had committed suicide by hanging in that same spot ten years previous, who matched that description.
She went to a mall and was horrified by the sight of burned and dying people walking around... turns out the "Trolley Station mall" had previously been the site, when it was an actual trolley station, of a fatal fire that killed dozens.
Most conclusively, her dead grandpa hung around the family, and she acted as medium between him and her grandma, and found out things from him that she'd tell her grandma that only her grandparents would know.
