Can i use lidocaine viscous after 3years?

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 14-01-05] [Hit: ]
Most otherwise stable drugs have a maximum expiration of 5 years from the month it was manufactured (FDA limit), even though it may be good for long after that.So if it is three yrs old but still has some shelf life left, viscous lidocaine is a very stable liquid product, I would say it is okay. There should be an expiration date on the container,......
my throat is sore and it was still in the medicine cabinet so I want to know if I can still use it

As a pharmacist who is legally liable for any advice I give in the capacity of my profession (unlike a non professional who isn't), I cannot recommend that you take an expired product, though you did not say if it was expired, only that it was 3 yrs old.

There should be an expiration date on the container, I'm guessing after 3 years it's long expired. While it probably won't hurt you, it may not be effective any more. Recommend you just get some fresh medicine that will work.
