I am currently taking 30mg of Adderall ir each morning. It has stopped working, so my doc switched mye to 30mg Vyvanse. I have never taken Vyvanse, but I know this is not even close to equivelent..at rhe same time I didn't want to argue.
I have some Adderall IR left. Is it safe, since they are chemically similar, to take 10mg or so of Adderall in the morning with the Vyvanse after I spend a few days praying to the ADD Gods that I can make Vyvanse work at this dose (I know it isn't the right dose...)?

Hey there take a deep breath, and I will explain to you what's going on. I have a Doctorate degree in pharmacy so I am relatively certain I can help .
I have a little more insight and knowledge about these medications than most pharmacists because I actually have ADD myself.
The Adderall IR 30 mg tablets work very well, however they should be dosed twice daily as they are not designed to provide full day coverage. Vyvanse 30 caps are intended to provide full day coverage, and Vyvanse is unique for the following reason. When you take the capsule the medication contained inside is called a prodrug. A prodrug is inactive until enzymes inside your body activate it. Then it is turned into the amphetamine.
Here is my suggestion. Tell your Physician you want to be proactive in your medication selections. Let him/ her know that you want to try the IR tabs twice daily. I take 30mg every A.M and 30mg right around noon. This is the best regimen I have ever been on.
