What is the value of dy/dx when x=2

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 13-09-25] [Hit: ]
NOTE: derivative of a constant is zero............
Consider the function y=10+17x-1
Please work it out to get the answer. Im confused. Thank you!

-
y=10+17x-1 which is the same as y=9+17x

the derivative of y=9+17x is dy/dx = 17
NOTE: derivative of a constant is zero.
so derivative of 9 is zero
the derivative of x is 1 so the derivative of 17x is 17

So at x=2 or x=any number : dy/dx=17

Your question is ----

........... y = 10 + 17 x - 1

Remember derivative of a constant = 0. Thus differentiating both the side of the given expression with respect to x we get

=> dy/dx = d/dx ( 10 ) + 17 d/dx ( x ) + d/dx ( - 1 )

=> dy/dx = zero + 17 + zero = 17 ..................... Answer Answer

.

-
y=10+17x-1
dy/dx = 0 + 17 - 0
dy/dx = 17 for all and any x value

-
Y= 10+17(2)-1
=10+34-1
=44-1
=43

-
dy/dx = 17
It doesn't matter what the value of x is.

-
dy/dx = 17 for all values of x
