I took a sleep aid that has had rare occurences of priapism. I woke up with a woody last night twice...both times i took a leak and it went down like 5 min later. When I got up to take a leak, both times i was dizzy lightheaded, and wanted to puke until i laid back down. You think the woodies were a coincidence..and with the lightheadedness at all...would i still be getting enough sleep? The drug is 50mg of trozodone.

When you say that you woke up with a woody last night, do you have a general idea of how long you had this woody before you woke up? A priapism as you likely know is an erection which lasts 4 or more hours. I just want to make sure I answer your question correctly as a priapism can cause permanent damage to the penis.
The common side effects of trazodone are exactly what you describe--dizziness, lightheaded and nausea (wanting to puke).
Are the woodies a coincidence?? Have you ever had this happen before? If not then I would likely think the trazodone is somehow involved. Another thing about having a priapism is that it is not the result of sexual stimulation, you just get hard. So as a pharmacist my answer is that it is not coincidence.
The sleep is another issue. Typically it is recommended to get between 6-8 hours of sleep each night. You should also factor into this how you felt the next day. Did you feel like you got enough sleep or did you feel tired? One issue I have with Trazodone is that it can cause a "hangover effect". In other words people may have a great nights sleep, but the medication still makes people drowsy upon awakening and for a portion of the day. However, some people love this medication, and are able to sleep well at night and feel great when they wake up. Did you get enough sleep? Only you can answer that question. Did you feel like you had enough sleep and how many hours of sleep did you get?
