I work as a vet tech and I got bite by a cat... As a precaution my boss gave them to me and I honestly took them as how he told me. I had to stop taking them because I found myself itching like crazy all over (no rash at all) my head felt like in the clouds and I couldn't focus. My itching is not as bad as it was but my mind is still in the clouds and I'm tired am I ok since I stopped talking them. He only gave me a weeks worth thanks!

Proper dosing for Keflex is 500mg 2x/day, depending on the problem -- it's used for a range of things from skin infections to ear infections to UTI.
You're thinking AMOXICILLIN, which is 3x/day, and is the pcn derivative usually prescribed for cat bites.
If you took Keflex 3x/day and you're itching alot this could be an allergic reaction. Other symptoms of allergy include hives, red skin blotches anywhere on the body, swelling (anywhere). The extreme symptoms include facial and throat swelling & trouble breathing.
Do not take any more.
You should be fine, but you'll have to wait until your liver metabolizes all that Keflex. Try Benedryl, 50mg every 6 hours for a day by mouth -- if this combats the itching effectively -- you'll know you're allergic to Keflex.
Good luck!

if the wound from the cat's bite is healed and you don't have fever you could stop. but you might want to take a tetani shot if it has been more than 10 years from your last shot. tetani's incubation period is 2 weeks so you might be infected without showing any symptoms. and cephalexin doesn't do anything for tetani.

You're a vet tech and can't answer this yourself? Also, what your boss has done is illegal. He's a veterinarian, not a physician. Him prescribing you medication is against the law. That being said, watch what you say online. Someone could trace your IP address and easily find out who your employer is. He could lose his license. You wouldn't want that, would you?
