I broke my arm pretty badly and had surgery a week and a half ago, and was prescribed oxycodone (petcocet). I take one to two pills every six hours as directed depending on how bad my arm and knee hurt at the time, and have been weaning off. Now i'm taking it less often but just as needed to manage pain, however I realized I look forward to the dose when i'm going to take it, not only for the pain relief but for the small aloof feeling too. It feels nice.
I've been weaning off and haven't taken one for about eight hours now, and wanna take a pill, but I have a headache. Does it sound like i'm developing a need? If so i'm just going to stop my prescription and use alleve or ibuprofen.

not yet. physical dependence starts when you develop withdrawal symptoms. you're starting to get mentally addicted, which is the first step. physical dependency comes next and can happen very quickly. i recommend you stop either now or within the next 1-2 days to avoid addiction.
