Ok there's this guy in R&S that does not believe the earth rotates because the bible says its fixed

What explanation would you give for him to show that the earth rotates on its axis?

Night and daytime is caused by the Earth spinning on its axis and the seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth . We can view the other Planets in our solar system all of which spin on their axis , the Sun also does (we can tell easily by observing sun spots) . We can tell by the way the stars circle in the night sky too .

Finally tell him to pick up the Bible and read it from cover to cover , if he still takes the Bible LITERAL then i would not speak to him again as the Bible also condones ; genocide , homicide , infanticide , rape and mutilation (of children too) , slavery , prostitution , famine and so on ...
Anyone who takes the Bible as the ultimate truth to everything is a moron .

Based on my experience dealing with religious extremists (fundamentalists), there is very little you can do to convince them otherwise. They are usually indoctrinated by their particular church to stay away from all things scientific. The Bible contains extremely bad science. Here is a case in point: In Joshua 10.10-12, God stops the Sun from moving in the sky so Joshua can kill the Amorites over a full 24 hour period of sunlight. Whoever wrote this passage believed that the Sun revolved around the Earth, which is a very common belief for this time period, since these people were essentially nomadic Sheppard's who could not read or write, and therefore knew very little science. On the other hand, if the Earth was to stop spinning, everything on the surface would go about 1000 mph at the equator, and most life would be dead (except insects, bacteria, and such). On the other hand, YouTube has animations of our Solar system, but this would probably be the work of the devil.
