The bottle doesn't say how often to take it, and the doctor only said as needed. He gave it to my mom for vertigo. For reference, 60 year old, 200 lb female. I'm going to do a search anyway, but I know that some pharm students may be reading this. Thanks.

Call the doctor and ask.
Nobody here has the information required for SAFE prescribing; suppose your mom has impaired liver function [or some other condition] that means a normal dose could be fatal - the doc knows about, and nobody here does.
You are ALWAYS entitled to call your doctor for a legitimate medical question !!
If he won't answer, call the pharmacist.
It should say on the label something like "take every x hours as required for some condition or other".
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_abb… but if you have any doubt whatsoever, call the doc or the pharmacist
