Shes thrown up twice. She doesnt know if this is because of the ibuprofen or shes just getting sick. If its from the medicine what can it do to her body? What should she do if Im the only person she can turn to? What will happen to her? Shes 13 and about 120-125lbs.......
So my friend called me and told me that on thursday night she took 29 ibuprofen. She said that when you push on her right side just below or on the bottom ribs it hurts (sharp pain) and it hurts a little worse when you push on the left side right on the bottom ribs (sharp pain). She has been keeping well hydrated but everytime she pees it's darker than it should be if your hydrated. She has a headache. She's thrown up twice. She doesn't know if this is because of the ibuprofen or she's just getting sick. If it's from the medicine what can it do to her body? What should she do if I'm the only person she can turn to? What will happen to her? She's 13 and about 120-125lbs.

Actually, ibuprofin overdose typically does not cause liver damage. The more serious damage it can cause is to the gastrointestinal system and kidneys. The fact that her abdomen hurts is a very common complaint with ibuprofin overdose, but it is a very serious one, as it could be the result of abdominal bleeding. Particularly since it hurts when pressed in. The darkened urine could also be the result of kidney damage.

She must seek medical attention or her life could be in jeopardy. This is one of the situations where even if you are the only person she trusts to tell, you must break that trust and tell her parents if she is not willing to. Even if she sees it as an attack on her or your trust, you may just be saving her life.

She needs a doctor, she might have taken acetaminophen instead, it has to be checked out. Too much acetaminophen and it can cause a fatal liver injury.

Dark urine could be kidney damage or liver damage, it takes medical doctors to order tests to find out, but after a certain point of time they can only watch her die.

She needs medical attention as soon as possible. Sounds like serious liver damage. If the liver has been damaged so much that it can't function, her blood will accumulate toxins which is very difficult to treat and can easily kill her.

Call the emergency helpline. Ibuprofen OD causes serious liver damage. Get her medical attention immediately rather than waiting for answers on yahoo.
