Four ounces of a certain perfume cost $20.96. How much would six ounces of perfume cost?5. The human brain weighs about 1 lb. for each 100 lb.......
Okay, so here are the nine word problems I have to do for homework. P.S. 7th grade pre-algebra (scale models and maps):

1. A scale model of a whale is being built. The actual length of the whale is 65 ft. The scale of the model is 2 in. : 3 ft. What will be the length of the model?

2. The smallest frog known is only 1/2 in. long. A local science museum is planning to build a model of the frog. The scale used will be 3 in. : 1/4 in. How long will the model be?

3. Two cities on a map were 2 1/4 in. apart. The cities are actually 56.25 mi. apart. What scale was used to draw the map?

4. Four ounces of a certain perfume cost $20.96. How much would six ounces of perfume cost?

5. The human brain weighs about 1 lb. for each 100 lb. of body weight. What is the approximate weight of the brain of a person weighing 85 lb. to the nearest ounce?

6. Two towns are 540 km. apart. If the scale on the map is 2 cm. to 50 km., how far apart are the towns on the map?

7. Cans of tuna cost $1.59 for 6 1/2 oz. At that rate, how much would 25 oz. of tuna cost?

8. Students are building a model of a volcano. The volcano is about 8,000 ft. tall. The students want the model to be 18 in. tall. What scale should they use?

9. A certain shade of paint requires 3 parts of blue to 2 parts of yellow to 1 part of red. If 18 gal. of that shade of paint are needed, how many gal. of blue are needed?

Please answer only the ones you can! Some I can answer myself, but I wanted to put them here just in case. Thanks so much!!!

1. Since the model is 2/3 of the length of a normal whale, you multiple 2/3 by the original length and get 43.3 inches
2.In this case, the model is larger. Since 1/2 is like saying 2/4, 6 inches would be length of the model since 3in = 1/4in and the frog is twice that.
3. simply divide 2 1/4 (2.25) by 56.25 which is 0.04 in which case, 0.04 inches : 1 miles
4. Here you use proportions to figure it out. 4oz / 20.96 = 6 oz/ x. Cross multiply and you get 4x=(20.96)(6) which ends up being 4x =125.76. Divide both sides by 4 and then x (the cost) is $31.44
