An object slides along an inclined plane that makes a 50 degree angle with the horizontal. The mass of the object is 20kg and the ramp is 10m long. Assume there's no friction

what is the force down the ramp due to acceleration of gravity on the object ?

what is the objects acceleration down the ramp?

how long will it take it to go down?

1. F(down) = mgcos(theta) = 20*9.8*cos(50) = 125.99N

2. Assuming no friction, then only the force from 1. acts down the plane so we have:

a = F(down)/m = 125.99/20 = 6.32m/s/s.

3. s(displacement) = 10m
a = 6.32m/s/s|
u = 0m/s (assume starts from rest)

s=ut+1/2at^2
s = 1/2at^2
+(2s/a)^1/2 = t (Take the positive root).
t = 1.78s.
