Is my doctor tricking me

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-09-05] [Hit: ]
Your body has adjusted to the meds and now even though you have upped the dose it still isnt working well be cause your body is too use to it. You should sit down and talk to your doc about adjusting the dose again, adding an assisting med, or changing to a different one. Unfortunately with cronic illnesses you have to change meds every so once in a while in order to continue to get relief. Good luck-I think that you are indeed paranoid and if you cannot follow your doctors orders find a new one.......

So I'm wondering if my doctor prescribed me something else in order to keep me from being high-strung? I'm wondering if she told me that it's Vyvanse, but really it's something else? I don't think that doctors are allowed to pull tricks like that (and I'm not a paranoid person who believes that others conspire against me), but I can't help considering the possibility.

What do you think?

When you take medication (or any drug including alcohol) for a period of time it will work great but after a while your body will adjust to the meds and you will no longer receive the same wonderful results as before so you have to increase the amount you take until you feel it working again. The problem with this is that with some meds/drugs the theraputic level and lethal level are pretty darn close. Your body has adjusted to the meds and now even though you have upped the dose it still isn't working well be cause your body is too use to it. You should sit down and talk to your doc about adjusting the dose again, adding an assisting med, or changing to a different one. Unfortunately with cronic illnesses you have to change meds every so once in a while in order to continue to get relief. Good luck

I think that you are indeed paranoid and if you cannot follow your doctors orders find a new one. Or give up.

you sound like you're developing a tolerance to the stimulant.
then again, your symptoms don't really sound like ADD, so perhaps it isn't the right drug for you in the first place? Being slow, sluggish and needing naps doesn't sound like ADD.

It's a legal thing.
All amphetamines/-like drugs cause a tolerance -- meaning that after a while a drug will stop working because the body is used to it.
Once tolerance occurs, you're pretty much done with that drug, and the doc doesn't want the legal issue of increasing your dosage so much you get completely hooked.
Because then she made you a drug addict.
Once you are labelled addict or seeking, no doctor will ever prescribe you ANYTHING, needed or not.
Again, LEGAL issue. They are just CYA'g themselves.
Just the way the system works.
