Solve for x (inequalities and absolute value unit) math?

http://symbolab.com/solver/inequalities-...b.treat this like 2 problems.......
solve for x:

a) -2(x+4) ≥ -8

b) 3|x+1| + 4 = 13

these need to be graphed on a number line, but i know how to do that, just don't know how to get to the answers i have

c) -2x - 3 > 7

d) 1 < 3x - 2 ≤ x+4

e) |1-2x | < 7

and this is a graph, again i know how to plot

y > -1
y ≥ 2x - 3

thanks :)

-
a) -2(x+4)>=-8
2(x+4)<=8
x+4<=4
x<=0

b)3|x+1|+4=13
3|x+1|=9
|x+1|=3
x+1=3 or x+1=-3
x=2 or x=-4

c)-2x-3>7
-2x>10
2x<10
x<5

d)1<3x-2<=x+4
1<3x-2 and 1 3x-2>1 and x+4>1 and 2x<=6
3x>3 and x>-3 and x<=3
x>1

so that 1
e)|1-2x|<7
1-2x<7 or 1-2x<-7
-2x<6 or -2x<-8
2x>6 or 2x>-8
x>3 or x>-4

here is a step by step solution:
http://symbolab.com/solver/inequalities-...

you can easily do the rest using that link
hope it helps

-
a) -2(x+4) ≥ -8

multiply by -1/2 (remember the greater than becomes a less than)
x+4 <= 4

add -4 to both sides (no change with addition)
x<=0

b. 3|x+1| + 4 = 13

add -4 to both sides
3|x+1|=9

multiply by 1/3
|x+1|=3
x+1=3 or x+1=-3

add -1
x=2 or x=-4

c) -2x - 3 > 7
add 3 to both sides
-2x>10

multiply by -1/2 (change direction)
x<-5

d) 1 < 3x - 2 ≤ x+4
treat this like 2 problems. leave the 1< alone for right now
3x-2<=x+4

add 2 to both sides
3x<=x+6

add -x to both sides
2x<=6

multiply by 1/2
x<=3

now bring back the other piece
1
e) |1-2x | < 7

divide by 2
|1/2 - x|<7/2

rearrange the left side since |a-b|=|b-a|
|x-1/2|<7/2

-6/2
